The Umbertine style takes its name from the homonymous king Umberto I of Savoy who reigned from 1878 until his assassination in 1900. The Umbertine era can be placed within the Eclectic period which marked the second half of the 19th century. Although it took various aspects from the Napoleon III style , the Umbertine period was notable for being more eclectic and monumental. Also, it had more neo-Gothic and neo-Baroque influences.
