Description
This book is first and foremost a testimony of friendship. The frontispiece bears a decidedly intriguing title: A Catalan cookery book A collection of Impossible Recipes by Irving Davis Printed at the expense of a friend. In fact, the bibliophile and gourmet incognito, Irving Davis, had compiled a collection of Catalan recipes during his life, which in his opinion were impossible to replicate outside their homeland. Upon his death, the gastronome Patience Gray, a great friend of Davis, took charge of publishing the manuscript, accompanied by a preface and explanatory notes. His bibliophile friend Lucien Scheler took care of the edition, with the contribution of the 11 original drypoints by Nicole Fenosa. And so here is this very refined cookbook, with recipes in English, with a dual English-Catalan title. Al Colophon: This edition consists of 165 copies printed on velin de rives paper, of which 150 have been numbered and signed by the artist and the publisher; 15 copies marked HC have been reserved for the collaborators. Finished on the 30th of September 1969 the text was printed in Paris by the imprimerie union, and the engravings by the ateliers Leblanc. Exemplary 134.
