Additional Information

Designer: Rodney Kinsman

Born in London in 1943, the English designer attended the Central School of Art until 1965. In 1966 Kinsman together with Jurek Olejnik and Bryan Morrison founded the design company OMK, with which they started the production. The "campo F" chair was one of the first pieces of furniture produced by OMK. The "F field" was made up of a block of expanded plastic material covered in red vinyl, this very typical furniture of the 60s and generally accepted as the most elegant piece of all OMK production. Later Kinsman moves on to designing furniture based on basic design techniques. The enormous success achieved over the 60s is due to this style. Among the most famous models we have the "Omstak" chair (1971), the "Graffiti" shelves (1981), the "Vienna" chair (1984) and the "Tokyo" chair range (1985). Rodney Kinsman 1981 designed the "Transit" seating system, originally intended for Gatwick Airport. In 1983 Rodney Kinsman was made a member of the Society of Industrial Artists and Designers and, in 1988, an honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art.

Over the years the company has divided into four divisions: Bieffe, for the drawing boards; Bieffeplast for the production of furniture, furnishing accessories, lamps and contract; Ergotec intended for furniture systems and partitions for office space; Cad / Cam, which since 1983 has been addressing the field of information technology linked to the production process.
