Notes historical bibliographic

In 1752 Pasquale Antonibon, descendant of a family of majolica producers, began to experiment with the production of porcelain with the help of the arcanist Sigmund Fischer of Meissen. In 1762 the efforts were crowned with success and Antonibon obtained a privilege from the Republic of Venice for the porcelain factory at Le Nove. Around 1770 the management passed to Gian Battista Antonibon, Pasquale's son. In 1782 he entered into a partnership with Francesco Parolin. Parolin's role became increasingly important in the manufacturing and in 1794 he became its owner. The style was typically rococo: the subjects of the figurines were the masks of the commedia dell'arte, the musicians and the dancers; while the pottery was decorated with landscapes, port scenes and historical episodes. Subsequently, in 1802 Parolin sold the factory to Giovanni Baroni, under whose direction the factory made the turn towards the neoclassical style. The vases took the shape of elongated Greek urns, while among the painted scenes there were typically those of the Napoleonic wars. In 1825 Baroni resold the factory to the Antonibon family, who however only continued the production of ceramics.
