Cocteau si rivela un bozzettista pieno di talento, ma soprattutto un artista capace di cogliere l'essenza dei volti, dei comportamenti, delle debolezze umane, con la profondità spietata di Georg Grosz e Otto Dix, ma anche con tutta la sua infinita, morbida dolcezza.
