72 loose sheets in editorial hardback folder in fair condition with cloth spine, printed title page on the front plate and editorial advertising on the back plate: dust spots and minimal brown stains on the plates, small tear on the upper cover, closure straps. First paper with the portrait of La Fontaine very burnished, the others in good condition, with rare foxings and irregular, burnished edges. Text in French. Texte en Français.

Collection of 72 etchings engraved by Jean-Baptiste Oudry to illustrate La Fontaine's Fables. Jean-Baptiste Oudry (1686-1755), painter, engraver, tapestry designer, is famous above all for being the director of the Beauvais and Gobelins Manufactories. A team of engravers was involved in this edition: Courtry, Greux, Lemaire, Lerat, Martinez, Mongin, Monzies, Rousselle.
